This course provides a survey of the History of Belize from pre-columbian times to the present. It focuses on the major themes such as imperialism, colonialism, forestocracy, enslavement and decolonization which helped to shape the historiography of our nation, Belize. These themes are interwoven and their legacies are still being felt today. Emphasis is also placed in understanding the development of a multicultural Belize and the unfounded claim of Guatemala.
