This
course introduces students to the study of sociological perspectives, issues
and concepts. Topics include the nature of the study of sociology; perspectives
and scientific methods for the study of society; the methods of sociological
research; socialization; culture, race and ethnicity; and major social
institutions. By the end of this course, students should be able to show appreciation and sensitivity to the diversity of peoples and their cultures. Students should also recognize the uniqueness and wealth of the Belizean Society and demonstrate a deeper appreciation for it with a willingness to participate in the development of different aspects of society.
