This course is structured so that the student can examine the History of Belize from the pre-Columbian era to present. Topics which this course covers are: pre-Columbian society, Colonialism, Forestocracy, Enslavement, Multi-Cultural Belize, and Decolonization. These topics are interwoven and their legacies are still being felt today. Emphasis is also placed on the unfounded claim of Guatemala. Besides acquiring the basic knowledge about the foundation of Belize and its development, students should acquire the skill and application in planning, organizing and execution of a research paper.
