This course is designed to enhance students' essay writing skills with emphasis on critical analysis of narrative, descriptive, expository, and argumentative essays. This course also introduces students to interpretive literature and the analysis and interpretation of elements of fiction and poetic devices found in literary works. EN 108 is a general core English
course which is mandatory for all students enrolled in the Associates degree at
Corozal Junior College. This course aims at attaining competency in the
conventions of academic writing.
Students should become fluent writers and speakers of the English
language through practice and application of the writing conventions of the
English Language. They should be able
to construct grammatically correct analytical essays using the appropriate text
structures. This should lead to
competence in oral and written language usage in the academic and work field.
